Project Background
In 2018, the Victorian State Government launched a major initiative to refurbish Melbourne’s tram fleet, as part of a broader effort to modernise the city’s public transport infrastructure. This project covered the refurbishment of over 85% of the city’s trams, enhancing their safety, functionality, and longevity. Copamate proudly participated in this ambitious project by contributing to key areas such as the refurbishment of tram doors and the manufacturing of new windows.
Scope of Works
Copamate was entrusted with a diverse range of manufacturing and refurbishment and new build tasks:
Tram Step Wells
Manufacturing and refurbishment of fibre glass step wells including painting and coating.
Interior and Exterior Fabrication
Custom fabrication of essential parts for both tram interiors and exteriors, tailored to project specifications.
Doors and Windows
Refurbished and new build of tram doors for improved safety and functionality, and manufactured new, that meet modern safety standards.
